ABU DHABI:
Etisalat, the largest telecommunication company in the Middle East, Asia and Africa, has announced that it has launched 3G services – the first of its kind – in Afghanistan through its arm Etisalat Afghanistan. In this regard, a service agreement was signed by Afghanistan Telecommunication Regulatory Authority Chairman Abdul Wakil Shergul and Etisalat Afghanistan CEO Ahmed Alhosani at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Kabul, says a press release. “Today is an auspicious moment in the history of telecommunications in Afghanistan,” said Ahmed Alhosani. “It calls for celebration of public-private partnership for connecting people and improving Afghan lives for many generations to come.” Etisalat says the achievement comes after only four years of the launch of Etisalat Afghanistan, which is offering mobile services and has been ranked first in building best networks in the country.
