Tragic accident: Six killed, five injured as pickup falls into ravine
Deceased include woman and her two sons.
HARIPUR:
At least six passengers, four women and two children, were killed and five others injured when a Suzuki pickup plunged into a roadside gorge in Havelian near Abbottabad on Thursday.
According to the police, the accident took place due to reckless driving. The deceased included a woman and her two minor sons.
The police said that the pickup, carrying children and schoolteachers from a government primary school, was on its way to Kiala village when it skidded and fell into a deep ravine near Gadar village.
The accident killed four women and two children, besides injuring two children, two teachers and the driver.
The bodies and injured were taken to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad by rescue workers.
Those killed were identified as Riffat Bibi, Nagina Bibi, Darya Bibi, Fauzia Bibi and her sons Faizan and Furqan.
The injured include Malika Bibi, Zehra Bibi, Mohtasim, Najwa and the driver Shafique, who were stated to be in serious condition at the time this story was filed.
Fatal accidents are frequent on roads in hilly areas, the majority of which are attributed to reckless driving.
