Rental power plants: SC to announce reserved verdict today

The verdict is on cases involving alleged corruption in contracts of and payments to rental power plants.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will announce its reserved judgment in the rental power plant case on Friday (today), according to a press release issued by the apex court.

The verdict is on cases involving alleged corruption in contracts of and payments to rental power plants detected by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority, the press release added.

The applicants, Minister for Housing and Works Faisal Saleh Hayat and MNA Khawaja Muhammad Asif had appeared in person while the government departments and sponsors and owners of the rental power plants were represented by their counsels.

The judgment was reserved on December 14 last year and will be announced on Friday by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

I pray that the mega fraud is revealed and punishment given to the real culprits.
