Wage-board award: PFUJ announces sit-in at parliament, SC

Protest is against the non-implementation of the seventh wage-board award.

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has announced that journalists will stage a sit-in in front of Parliament and the Supreme Court on May 3 to protest against the non-implementation of the seventh wage-board award and the non-payment of working journalists.  A black day was observed on Wednesday all over the country on the appeal of the PFUJ. In Karachi, in a protest organized by the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ), hundreds of journalists condemned the government for granting Rs300 million to the All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) despite the fact that the wage-board award has not been implemented by newspaper owners and journalists in several organizations are not paid their salaries. KUJ president GM Jamali said that if the newspaper owners did not implement the seventh wage-board award, the journalist reserve the right to take drastic measures.
