Energy sector: Polish company to invest in Sindh

KARACHI: A Polish company has indicated interest in investing in the energy sector in Sindh at the exploration stage, according to Andrzej Ananicz, ambassador of Poland to Pakistan, who visited the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Head Office on Tuesday. In the meeting, FPCCI Vice President Shakil Ahmed Dhingra noted that trade remained below desired levels due to the lack of a direct air link between Pakistan and Poland. He informed Ananicz that the FPCCI was organizing a trade delegation to Poland and Czech Republic in April 2012, which would help further bilateral trade relations. Ananicz opined that formal trade figures belied reality because almost twice as much trade between Pakistan and Poland was being carried out through third countries. He pointed out opportunities for Pakistani textiles in the Polish market, stating that the EU concession package provided Pakistan a good opportunity to compete with other countries.
