Punjab assembly: Resolution planned against Centre over power cuts
The House is likely to meet for a day.

The Pakistan Muslim league Nawaz (PML-N) is to start a debate on the energy shortage and move a resolution against the federal government over load-shedding as the Punjab Assembly starts its 36th session on Thursday (today).
PML-N sources said that the session would likely last one day and the assembly would aim to put pressure on the federal government to improve power supply to the Punjab. The government would also present its energy policy in the house, they said.
The PML-N government has repeatedly accused the federal government of discrimination in the electricity supply to the Punjab. Nawaz Sharif said in a speech at a recent public gathering that the provincial government would raise the issue in the assembly, while Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has threatened to lead a “long march” to Islamabad in protest. MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, the chief minister’s son, is to lead a protest against power outages from Bhati Gate to Shahalmi on Saturday.
