Violation of SC order: PHC restricts reappointed official from holding office
Dr Ziaul Islam, who heads 2 medical colleges in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, has been removed from office until further orders.
PESHAWAR:
In violation of a Supreme Court verdict barring government officials from tenure extension or re-appointment after retirement, authorities are perhaps still favouring their blue-eyed boys.
Hearing such a case on Wednesday, the Peshawar High Court restrained Dr Ziaul Islam, chief executive of the Mardan Medical Complex, from performing his duties until further orders. Islam also serves as principal of the Bacha Khan Medical College.
ENT specialist Dr Amir Bahadur Khan, in his writ petition, informed the court that Dr Islam, who retired in 2004, was given an extension in service which violated a Supreme Court verdict.
PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, while heading a divisional bench with Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth, instructed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa health secretary and provincial chief secretary to restrain Dr Islam from holding office until further instructions.
