Educational institutes, petrol pumps, offices reopen after MQM's day of mourning.

Life in Karachi returned back to normalcy as Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) day of mourning ended on Wednesday. However, the situation in PIB Colony is still reported to be unstable.
Educational activity began in schools, colleges and universities after they remain closed for a day as violence erupted in several areas of Karachi on Tuesday. On the other hand, private education institutes, fearing more incidents of violence, decided to stay closed.
Police and Rangers were also deployed at various areas to avoid any untoward incidents.
Karachi became a target of fierce aggression as tyres and vehicles were set on fire, people were killed in firing incidents and roads were blocked on the day when MQM announced to mourn the death of its workers.
At least 10 people lost their lives, two dozen were injured and around 46 vehicles set alight in the violence.
Police, Rangers apprehend political party workers during raids
Police and Rangers raided several areas of Karachi on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in an effort to get hold of the culprits involved in spreading violence in the city.
Crime Investigation Department (CID), under the supervision of SSP Aslam Khan, raided the house of People’s Aman Committee chairman Uzair Baloch in Lyari, but failed to apprehend him.
Three people were apprehended from the Liaquatabad C-1 area, and police claimed retrieving a Kalashnikov from one of them.
Police also detained five other workers of a political party from Abul Hassan Isphahani Road after raiding an apartment. Some weapons were also recovered.
