Murder: Eunuch found stabbed
After the murder, the assailant set the house on fire.
LAHORE:
The body of a eunuch was recovered from his quarter in Shafiqabad that was set on fire by unidentified people on Monday. Police said he had been stabbed several times.
Residents of Gandi Bhambian informed the Rescue 1122 at around 3:30pm on seeing flames rising from the deceased Shahid’s quarter.
The rescue team found that the quarter was locked. They broke in and found Shahid’s body lying in a pool of blood. They said he had been stabbed, but no weapon was found.
Police were informed and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
Naeemul Haq Qureshi, the deputy superintendent of police (DSP), told The Express Tribune that 30-year-old Shahid had been living alone in the rented quarter, owned by one Sufi. He said it seemed that the body was locked in the quarter to make the death appear like a fire incident.
DSP Qureshi speculated that Shahid had been murdered at noon. He said the fire had not reached the room where the body was lying.
He said some of the neighbours had been questioned but none appeared to have any clue about who could have murdered Shahid. None of them had noticed any one entering or leaving the house, he added.
