Three people including a woman, FC personnel killed in various incidents

Two Hazara­s also killed in suspec­ted sectar­ian attack.

QUETTA: Three people, including a woman and a Frontier Corps (FC) official, were killed in separate incidents in different towns of Balochistan on Monday.

According to a police official, the victims, including Nazir Hussain alias Ejaz and Ali Asghar were sitting in their shop near Pudgili Chowk on Sabzal Road when assailants on a motorbike opened fire on them, resulting in Ejaz’s death while Asghar received critical wounds.

The assailants managed to escape after the attack.

The body and injured were shifted to the Bolan Medical Complex where Asghar’s condition is said to be critical. “The victims were shot in head and chest. The injured is in critical condition and was referred to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH),” doctors said.

Talking to The Express Tribune, a senior police official said that the victims belonged to the Hazara community and it could be an incident of sectarian targeted killing. “Police are investigating the incident from different aspects.”

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the killings.

The body has been handed over to the family and a case had been registered against unidentified assailants.

FC official killed in landmine blast

Meanwhile, a Frontier Corps (FC) official identified as Gul Zaman was killed in a landmine explosion in Pirkoh area of Dera Bugti.

Security personnel said the victim had stepped on a landmine that exploded, killing him instantly. A heavy contingent of security forces reached the site soon after the incident. The body was taken to a nearby hospital for autopsy.

Husband kills wife in Bakhtyarabad

In another incident, a person identified as Chamsa Khan allegedly strangled his wife in Bakhtyarabad area near Sibi district. The accused fled from the scene after committing the crime.

Talking to The Express Tribune, an official in Bakhtyarabad said,“The accused was mentally ill and police have initiated a search for his arrest.” A case was registered against the accused.

Security forces foil gas pipeline attack

Separately, security forces foiled an attempt to blow up two gas pipelines in Sui area of Dera Bugti by detonating explosive devices planted along with the pipeline. However, no arrests have been made, so far.

IEDs can be made from random things. Their manufacturing and usage should be brought in check and stopped.

Improvised explosive devises are the new weapons and bombs used by terrorists, should be brought to an end.
