Pay raise: Police baton-charge protesting lady health workers
Police retaliate when workers tried entering Parliament House to protest.

At least four Lady Health Workers (LHWs) and one minor girl were injured when the Islamabad police baton-charged a large number of protestors, who took to the streets on Monday demanding an increase in their salary and its regularisation.
The police retaliated when the workers tried to enter the Parliament House to get their voices heard by the policy makers and people in power.
Six LHWs fainted as a result of the retaliation, while protesting earlier in the morning five others had fainted due to suffocation. They were shifted to Polyclinic Hospital.
A large number of LHWs from across the country had gathered at D-Chowk in front of the Parliament House at 9:45am and staged a sit-in.
They had demanded a pay raise and disbursement of six months salary and payment of the allocated amount for their services during polio campaigns, dengue fever survey, vaccination for de-worming of children, mother and child program among others.
