The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has declared former media advisor to the prime minister, Khurram Rasool, guilty of minting money from people on the false pretext of sending them for Hajj.
Rasool is also currently involved in another fraud case with the FIA Karachi.
In an interim investigation report, the FIA stated that the accused obtained approximately Rs1 million from nine different people saying a special plane was being chartered for Hajj on the directions of the premier.
Rasool has been accused of depriving Agha Mujeeb Ahmed and his family members of Rs945, 000 and confiscating their passports. The accused was allegedly helped by Shahzab and Muhammad Fiaz.
The investigators said in their report that Shahid Mehmood, Rasool’s brother, handed over the nine passports and Rs200, 000. The rest of the money is yet to be recovered.
Sub Inspector Mazhar Ali Shah of the FIA further said that the two alleged accomplices of Rasool will be arrested soon.
An FIR was filed against Rasool on the complaint of Ahmed on February 7, 2012 under sections 406, 420, 468, 471 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The complainant alleged that he, along with eight other persons, gave Rasool Rs945,000 along with passports for sending them to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. However, Rasool later confiscated the passports.

PPP party wallahs does not let even the Hajj go by without trying to make money from it. These people should be afraid of day of judgement. Have they no shame ?

FIA is an investigating agency, not a court. They cannot declare anyone guilty, they can only allege if someone is guilty and then present their prosecution case before the court. Then it is up to the court to accept their evidence and declare the person guilty or as it happens nine out of ten cases, the court throws out the prosecution case and declares the person not guilty and discharges him honourably.
