Firing by rally participants allegedly kills bystander

During a rally organised by the Sindh Nationalist party, Jeay Sindh Qaumi, 22-year-old Mohammed Nadeem was shot dead in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar locality on Friday.


Nadeem, son of Ghulam Murtaza, was at his puncture shop situated at Block-11, Dubai Chowrangi when the incident took place. According to reports, the participants of the rally restored to firing in order to suspend the commercial activities while passing from that area and resultantly, the victim was shot and injured. He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre did not survive his injuries.

The deceased belonged to the Siraiki community. Following the incident, the victim’s relatives gathered on the road and held a protest against the incident. They also blocked the flow of traffic by setting tyres on fire.

Police officials said that two men riding a motorcycle were behind the incident. SHO Tahir Ayub said that the police have registered an FIR against the two unidentified men and a search was underway.

Later, a 13-year-old boy identified as Nawaz was wounded when allegedly the participants of the rally restored to firing near Rabiya City. There were also reports about rioting and mugging at the petrol pump in the same locality but police officials neither confirmed nor denied the incident.
