MULTAN: Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) president Khawja Anees demanded on Tuesday that multiple tax categories be merged so that the businesses could pay their tax in one go instead of payment to various different government departments. He said the collection of taxes under various categories was causing inconvenience to the industrialists. Anees said at present they had to pay for Workers Welfare Fund, Old-Age Employees Benefit and others categories to both provincial and federal governments. He said their work was being affected by the frequent visits by officials of these departments to scrutinise records and to conduct annual audits.
