PTI's countrywide membership campaign begins this Sunday: Imran Khan

Khan says around 4-5 million party members will elect party officials after a voting process.

LAHORE:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) countrywide membership campaign will begin from coming Sunday and will be Pakistan’s “biggest membership campaign in the history”, announced PTI chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Khan said that around 4-5 million party members will elect party officials after a voting process.

“There will be open membership… The registered members will elect party officials,” said Khan and added that the party is preparing for the campaign as groundwork is needed for such a step.

“There are issues in Southern Punjab, especially after the passage of 18th Amendment, when all the powers have been centralised with the provincial government.

“The demands for Seraiki province, Bahawalpur province are increasing as the inferiority complex among people is rising. But we have a clear mandate: provinces should be in the form of administrative units,” stated Khan and added that the provinces should not be used as an “election gimmick”.
