Hizbut Tahrir arrests: Activists protest for colleagues’ release
Police had raided an HuT hideout in Sector I-9/4 on Thursday and arrested 19 people.

Activists of the banned group Hizbut Tahrir (HuT) protested at Zero Point on Friday against the arrest of 19 colleagues by the Industrial Area police. The police had raided an HuT hideout in Sector I-9/4 on Thursday and arrested 19 people. The police also claimed to have seized pamphlets containing anti-government language. The arrested were produced before an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi, which sent them on two-day physical remand. The protesters claimed the meeting was a peaceful “dars”. They claimed the arrested included 12 software and telecom engineers, two BBA and MBA graduates, a businessman and students. They feared that the police might torture them during remand.
