Appointed time: Court gives vice chancellor last chance to reply
CJ warned the lawyer that the court would bar the vice chancellor from holding office if the reply was not received.

Chief Justice (CJ) Sheikh Azmat Saeed of Lahore High Court on Wednesday gave Punjab University vice chancellor’s lawyer a last opportunity to file a reply to a petition challenging his reappointment as vice chancellor.
The CJ warned the lawyer that the court would bar the vice chancellor from holding office if the reply was not received.
Shahzad Shaukat, representing vice chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, sought time to file a written reply when the CJ asked him whether the respondent had completed his term and had been reappointed. The judge allowed the request and adjourned the hearing till April 3. Petitioner Fayyaz Ahmad Mehr had submitted that the respondent was reappointed on January 1, 2012 in violation of law and rules.
