Service structure: PMA to propose new grades
PMA office bearers called for creation of grade 23, to accommodate senior doctors.

The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) office bearers on Sunday called for creation of grade 23, to accommodate senior doctors. A PMA committee has completed its recommendations regarding the pay and service structure of the doctors across Pakistan. The recommendations will be presented by PMA’s counsel, Azhar Siddique, before the Supreme Court of Pakistan at the next hearing. The PMA proposed grades 1 to 7 for paramedical staff and nurses and grades 9 to 13 for doctors. Scales 9 to 12 are proposed to be equivalent to BS-19-22. Chief executives and the heads of institutions are proposed to be in Scale 13. A Rs50,000 stipend has been proposed for post graduate trainees and Rs24,000 for house officers.
