Seven-year-old boy’s teenage rapist caught

Older boy was a neighbour, knew the victim well.

ISLAMABAD:
The teenage rapist of a seven-year-old boy was arrested on Saturday. The police discovered that the accused was possibly a juvenile, but were not certain of his exact age.

After a brief search and chase the Secretariat police located the suspect, who had escaped from his house following the incident that took place on Wednesday.

The victim was earlier taken to Pims, where the doctors said that the boy was lucky to survive. His condition is stated to be stable now.

“He is under interrogation and we asked for his particulars to obtain his date of birth. From his statement and features he appears to be 14 or 15,” said a police official. He said the boy would likely be sent to the jail for juvenile offenders.

“The molester’s motive behind the act was that he liked the boy (victim),” a police official said, adding that the accused also said he was “embarrassed” by what he had done.

Police said the two boys were residents of same neighbourhood and used to play together. The older boy took the child with him to an isolated part of the neighbourhood where he assaulted him.

“I do not know what we should do because both of them are children. They did not know what they were doing,” said the police official.

He said the police will follow the law and would produce the accused before the court with all relevant evidence.
