Transitions: Javed Miandad’s mother passes away at 95

The funeral prayers were offered at Jamia Masjid in Gulberg and she was laid to rest at Sakhi Hasan graveyard.

Javed Miandad’s mother Khatoon Bibi passed away at the age of 95 on Saturday.



Miandad is a former cricketer and member of the board of governors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The funeral prayers were offered at Jamia Masjid in Gulberg and she was laid to rest at Sakhi Hasan graveyard. Miandad told The Express Tribune that his mother was the main character behind his success and their whole family. “What I am today and what I have, it is all due to her and I have no words to explain her greatness,” he said. His brother Sohail said their mother would pray the whole day for Pakistan’s team whenever Javed came to the crease. “Our success is the outcome of her prayers and struggle,” he said.

Former Test cricketers Rashid Latif, Moin Khan, Jalaluddin, Shoaib Mohammad, Mohammad Nadeem Khan, Aftab Baloch, the PCB’s Wazir Ali Khoja, Karachi City Cricket Association’s Syed Sirajul Islam Bukhari, Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association’s Mohammad Nizam, the manager of National Stadium, Arshad Khan, the PCB’s Shoaib Ahmed and hundreds of fans attended the funeral prayers. PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf and the board’s management sent their condolences.
