Outstanding Students: Pak scholarship for Sri Lanka students
The programme provides a stipend of Rs24,000 to a selected candidate for a period of one year.
COLOMBO:
Pakistan has asked Sri Lankan students who are studying O and A levels to take part in the Jinnah Educational Scholarship Scheme introduced to provide financial assistance to outstanding candidates pursuing advanced studies. Pakistan has awarded the annual Jinnah Educational Scholarships to exceptional Sri Lankan students for the past 6 years through its high commission in Colombo. Over 100 Sri Lankan students availed the scheme last year. The programme provides a stipend of Rs24,000 to a selected candidate for a period of one year. Thus far, 800 Sri Lankan students have benefited from the scheme since its introduction. The government of Pakistan has so far spent Rs20 million on promoting the cause in Sri Lanka. Interested students have been advised to contact the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo for further details before March 19.
