Babar Awan: ‘Vetting of papers wasn’t thorough’
Justice Bandial asked the federal law officers to continue their arguments on March 16, the date fixed for a hearing.

AK Dogar, an amicus curiae (friend of court), on Friday told the Lahore High Court that the Punjab Election Commission returning officer had not fulfilled his duty while vetting former federal law minister Babar Awan’s papers.
He said the vetting was not thorough. Justice Umar Ata Bandial was hearing arguments on the maintainability of a petition that challenges the acceptance of Awan’s nomination papers for Senate elections.
Justice Bandial asked the federal law officers and the amici curiae to continue their arguments on March 16, the next date fixed for a hearing.
Petitioner-lawyer Shahid Jami submitted that Awan had not paid income tax on his land and agriculture equipment. He said that Awan had mocked the judiciary.
He has prayed that acceptance of Awan’s nomination papers be set aside.
