QUETTA: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Khuzdar, Mastung and Hub areas of Balochistan on Friday in protest against the targeted killings of Balochistan National Party (BNP) political activists.

A few days ago BNP members Abdul Waheed and Salman Baloch were gunned down by unknown armed men in Khuzdar area.

There were no business and trade activities in Khuzdar, Mastung and Hub due to the strike today. Most of the shops, markets and trading centres remained closed. Streets remained deserted with very thin traffic plying all day.

Talking to media, central secretary information BNP-Mengal Advocate Agha Hassan condemned the killing of BNP leaders. “As many as 35 BNP leaders and activists were killed in similar incidents in different parts of Balochistan. The government functionaries are involved in these killings,” he alleged, adding that everybody knows who is killing the innocent people of this region but no one is paying heed to this.

Hassan further demanded that the humanitarian organisations should take notice of these incidents.
