Family medicine: UHS to launch two new courses
Two-year diploma and four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) programmes in family medicine

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) is to launch two training programmes for general practitioners from this year. The two-year diploma and four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) programmes in family medicine shall be offered at UHS-affiliated medical colleges.
The programmes were approved in the 63rd meeting of the UHS Advanced Studies and Research Board here on Thursday with Vice Chancellor Prof Malik H Mubashar in the chair. The members of the board were told that there were more than 120,000 registered family physicians in Pakistan who were not formally trained in family medicine.
