Punjab sports festival: Gordonians bring home laurels

A similar streak of performance was witnessed at the division level events by Gordon College players.

The athletes of Government Gordon College Rawalpindi put up an impressive show at the ongoing Punjab Sports Festival 2012, said a press release issued by the college on Tuesday.


At the district level, the college clinched nine gold and three silver medals in different weight categories of karate, taekwondo, wrestling and weight lifting. They also won a silver medal each in team events of hockey, kabbadi and volleyball.

A similar streak of performance was witnessed at the division level events, with Gordon College players winning nine gold and three silver medals in karate, taekwondo, wrestling and weightlifting. At the Punjab level, M Ilyas Khan of second year bagged a silver medal in taekwondo. The college also won the third positions in wrestling and weightlifting.

Government Gordon College Principal Professor Dr Abdul Qayyum Bhatti praised the zeal and effort of the athletes, and praised the Chairman College Sports Prof. Zulfiqar Khokhar, College Sports In-Charge Prof. M. Afzal Mian.
