Formula One: Ferrari chief sceptical after testing

BARCELONA:
Ferrari technical director Pat Fry admitted that the team would struggle to make the podium at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in two weeks’ time. Fry was speaking after the final pre-season test ended at Montmelo, a four-day session that saw Fernando Alonso manage only the fifth-fastest time of one minute and 22.25 seconds, with teammate Felipe Massa ninth on the time charts overall. “We’re disappointed with the performance seen at these tests and we have a lot of work ahead,” said Fry. “Clearly the decision relating to the exhausts that we took last week meant we took a few steps backwards in terms of development.”
