Abuse victim: “Give me justice or I’ll kill myself”
Victim claims police investigation team is supporting the accused men.
ABBOTABAD:
A woman who was stripped and allegedly filmed by eight armed men has threatened self-immolation if she is not given justice.
Shumaila Bibi* of Kainthli village had accused eight men from her village of forcibly entering her house in December last year. According to an FIR registered with the Nawanshehr police station, the accused had disrobed Bibi and her husband Naseer Ahmed, taken pictures of the couple and filmed them. The woman also alleged attempted assault prior to the filming.
Police said the motive behind the crime was suspicions of Shumaila’s husband having illicit relations with a woman from the perpetrators’ family – a claim that the complainant denies.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, the victim said the police were torturing the couple by asking ‘irrelevant questions’ about the crime. She said the police were biased because of which the accused were openly threatening to kill her and burn down her house. The victim has demanded that the chief justice of Pakistan and government bring the perpetrators to justice otherwise she will set herself to fire along with her husband.
Shumaila said she has already lost her honour and is constantly living under stress.
