Tennis: Ferrer through to Acapulco final
Ferrer of Spain defeated Colombian Santiago Giraldo 7-5, 6-4 in the semi-finals.
ACAPULCO:
Top-seed David Ferrer of Spain defeated Colombian Santiago Giraldo 7-5, 6-4 in the semi-finals of the Acapulco Open. The Spaniard managed to convert two of the seven break points available to him, whereas Giraldo had six opportunities to do the same but failed to capitalise. Ferrer’s opponent in the final will be compatriot Fernando Verdasco, who beat Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland 6-3, 6-3.
