Samir to face Aqeel Khan today
Samir Iftikhar will face Pakistan top-seed Aqeel Khan today in the men’s singles semi- final of the National Clay Court Tennis Championship 2010.
Samir caused an upset by defeating the fifth-seed Imran Shouqat 6-3, 6-3 in the quarter final of the men’s singles category. Meanwhile he also crushed Jibranul Haq in the Under-18 category 6-0, 6-0 to reach another semi-final with junior top-seed Heera Ashiq.
Aqeel beat Sadnul Haq 6-1, 6-0 in the quarter-final while second-seed Jaleel Khan overcame Abid Ali Akber 6-3, 6-4. Meanwhile third-seed Tanveer Ashiq defeated elder brother Munir Ashiq 7-5, 7-5 to book a semi-final place against Jaleel.
In the ladies quarter-finals, Sara Mansoor beat Meheq Khokhar 6-2, 6-3 and Saba Aziz defeated Fizza Abid 6-0, 6-0.
