Pride before fall: MPA’s father-in-law arrested on multiple charges

Shah has been arrested on charges of rioting, interference in state affairs, forcing the release of detainees.

KARACHI:

Police arrested the father-in-law of the provincial assembly member, Akhtar Hussain Jadoon, on Tuesday. The accused, Sikandar Shah, was taken into custody by the Jackson police while on his way home from the city courts.

According to SHO Zulfiqar Sammo, Shah has been arrested on charges of rioting, interference in state affairs, forcing the release of detainees from police custody at gunpoint and a police encounter.

The officer alleged that Shah was responsible for the release of two detainees, who were arrested from Gulshan-e-Sikandarabad a few days back, after attacking the police station. “Shah came to the police station with more than 100 people and forcibly took the suspects with him,” said Sammo.  After receiving a tip-off about Shah’s movement at the city courts, the police arrested him. Following the arrest, relatives and supporters of Shah protested outside the police station while a heavy contingent of law enforcers was deployed. The officer claimed that he was under political pressure to release Shah, who has also been arrested previously by SSP Farooq Awan over kidnapping for ransom allegations.
