Empowering women: First ever woman to head NADRA directorate

Fizzah Shahid, an IT graduate, appointed DG corporate quality management directorate.

ISLAMABAD:
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) appointed the first ever woman as Director General (DG) Corporate Quality Management Directorate on Monday.

Fizzah Shahid was promoted to head one of the most important departments in the authority. Shahid is an IT graduate from the Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad with 20 years of IT and management experience. She has been the senior-most woman in the organisation since eight years. Deputy Chairman Nadra Tariq Malik told The Express Tribune that it had adopted a fair and equal employment policy to empower them.


Over 1,750 female employees have played a pivotal role in registering the women of the country. He said that female employees have proved that they were as competent as men, adding that it was fair they needed a secure environment where they could apply their experience, skills, education and intelligence.

“I am pleased that the senior female officers are heading various departments including Marketing, Media and Communication Department,” he added. Malik claimed that women formed around 51 per cent of the population, comprising a vital segment of society. He further praised them by adding that progress without their active participation in all spheres of national life could not be made. “It is imperative that they should earn a respectable place in society,” he concluded.
