Football: Platini backs Germany for Euros
Said Germany were one of the favourites to win this summer’s Euro 2012.
BERLIN:
Uefa President Michel Platini said Germany were one of the favourites to win this summer’s Euro 2012 ahead of their friendly with France day after tomorrow. “The German team is very young and creative,” said Platini. “They didn’t lose any of their qualification matches and are the favourites to win alongside Spain.” Platini, who led France to the 1984 European title on home soil, cast a critical eye over the current French team coached by Laurent Blanc. “We have two or three really good players like Karim Benzema and Franck Ribery, but the rest are average,” he said.
