Khosa advises graduates to 'equip themselves with latest knowledge in field of science and technology.'
LAHORE:
Education is the only true agent of change, said Governor Latif Khan Khosa on Saturday. He was speaking at the University of Lahore convocation.
He advised the graduates to “equip themselves with the latest knowledge in the field of science and technology” to make Pakistan a prosperous country.
“It’s a shame,” he said, “that only five per cent of our population receives higher education.” Khosa called the 21st century “the century of knowledge”, adding that educational institutions needed to encourage students to bring about a positive change.
The passage of the18th Amendment will ensure fundamental rights to all, he said. The governor stressed the importance of women empowerment, saying women’s participation was essential for development.
The chairman of the university’s board of governors Muhammad Abdul Rauf and senior faculty members were present on the occasion.
