LAHORE:
The World Health Organisation (WHO), in collaboration with the federal and the provincial government, is organising a three-day conference on dengue at Lahore from February 27 to 29.
International experts from WHO and from various countries will participate in the conference alongside local experts who will share their experiences from the dengue outbreak in Punjab last year, which was the largest ever experienced in Pakistan and one of the largest in the world last year.
WHO Punjab Operations Officer Dr Babar Alam said that the Punjab government would have to work hard to prevent major dengue outbreaks in future. “At the end of the workshop, we expect to have a set of conclusions and recommendations for improving and strengthening existing strategies for the prevention and control of dengue fever,” he said.
