            Hungarian Timea Babos knocked out third-seed Sorana Cirstea of Romania in the second round of the Monterrey Open. Babos struggled in the first set with three double-faults but rallied to record a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory in one hour and 54 minutes. Meanwhile, sixth-seed Greta Arn also secured a safe passage to the quarter-finals after she piled up six service breaks in her defeat of Croatian qualifier Maria Abramovic 6-4, 6-2.
