Signing up: Decorated navy man joins MQM
A former military officer officially joined the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday.
KARACHI:
A former military officer officially joined the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday, the latest in a slew of businessmen among others to have joined the party. Rear Admiral (retd) Nishat Rafi announced he was joining the Altaf Hussain-led party at a press conference organised by the MQM Coordination Committee at the party’s headquarters, Nine Zero. He is a recipient of the Hilal-i-Imtiaz and Sitara-i-Imtiaz (military) awards and said he had 37 years of experience in the navy and bureaucracy. MQM Coordination Committee members and provincial ministers Raza Haroon and Rauf Siddiqui were on stage with Rafi, while MNA Waseem Akhtar and former mayor and Senate nominee Mustafa Kamal were among the MQM leaders in attendance.
