Top-seed Roberta Vinci was ousted from the WTA Monterrey Open, with Russian Nina Bratchikova upsetting the Italian 7-5, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals. Bratchikova needed only 81 minutes to advance to the last-eight. Italian second-seed Sara Errani downed France’s Alize Cornet 6-2, 6-3 and Romanian Alexandra Cadantu eliminated Spain’s Silvia Soler-Espinosa 7-6, 6-3 in other second-round matches. Cadantu will face Spanish eighth-seed Lourdes Dominguez Lino, who defeated Russian Valeria Savinykh 6-4, 6-2.
