High fee: LHC bars SZMC from collecting fee

Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan also sought replies from college chairman and both the federal and Punjab govts.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday barred the Shaikh Zayed Medical College (SZMC) administration from charging Rs500,000 annual fee from its students.

Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan also sought replies from the college chairman and both the federal and Punjab governments, by February 27, on a petition filed by Dr Salman Kazmi. Kazmi, the Pakistan Medical Association joint secretary has contended that the SZMC is the only public sector institution which charges such high fees.
