Bangladesh Premier League: Mominul reignites faltering Burners
Helps his side overhaul target in final over.
Mominul Haque hit a match-winning half-century as Barisal Burners chased down a competitive 162-run target, defeating Khulna Royal Bengals by four wickets in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Haque remained unbeaten on 53, made off just 28 deliveries, to guide his side past the finish line as they registered their fourth BPL win in eight matches. While wickets kept falling at the other end, Haque remained calm.
Earlier, Nazmul Hossain Milon hit a superb 31-ball 42 to help Bengals register a defendable total. However, the bowlers failed in the bid as Bengals lost their third match in the tournament. They still lead the points table ahead of Duronto Rajshahi who have a match in hand.
Pakistanis shine in massive win for Dhaka
Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood’s all-round show enabled Dhaka Gladiators register their fourth win in seven matches as they downed Sylhet Royals by eight wickets.
Rana Navedul Hasan claimed three and Mahmood took two wickets as Royals were restricted to a paltry 128 for seven before Gladiators overhauled the target in just the 13th over.
Dhaka opener Imran Nazir retired hurt after a well-made 31 but Mahmood continued the good work, making a quickfire 29. Mohammad Ashraful made 40 before Kieron Pollard finished the game with three sixes to complete the thumping win.
Sylhet continue to languish at the bottom of the table after their seventh loss in as many games.
