Tennis: Jankovic hoping to regain top spot
Defeating Petra Cetkovska 6-2, 6-2 to reach the second round of the WTA Dubai Open.
DUBAI:
Former world number one Jelena Jankovic made it clear that she has not given up hope of regaining her top status after defeating Petra Cetkovska 6-2, 6-2 to reach the second round of the WTA Dubai Open. Jankovic moved fairly well on court despite suffering an injury at the Fed Cup two weeks ago which required heavy bandaging to her left thigh. “It’s my biggest wish,” said Jankovic, ranked 14 in the world. “But sometimes there are things you can’t control.” Meanwhile, fifth-seed Agnieszka Radwanska beat Aleksandra Wozniak 6-1, 6-7, 7-5.
