IHC summons ISI major in disappearances case
Major Tariq has been put on notice and directed to appear before the court on March 14.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday summoned Major Tariq of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency in a missing persons case, directing him to appear before the court on March 14.
Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi, Judge IHC heard a petition seeking the recovery of Dr Abdul Qayyuum and Dr Abdul Wahid.
Muhammad Islam Abid and Ali Mukhtyar petitioned the court through Advocate Umar Hayat Sindhu, regarding the abduction of their brothers in law Dr Abdul Qayyum and Dr Abdul Wahid.
The counsel contended before the court that both Dr Qayyum and Dr Wahid were missing since August 2011. He added that Dr Abdul Qayyum was abducted from Rahim Yar Khan, whereas Dr Abdul Wahid was abducted from Lahore.
During the hearing the lawyer also informed the court that six individuals were abducted by the agencies on suspicion of their alleged links with banned militant outfit Hizbut Tahrir (HuT), however four, namely Imran Yousafzai, Hayyan Dawar Khan, Usama Hanif and Abdul Wajid were released later.
One of the released abductees Imran Yousafzai, while recording his statement before the magistrate, revealed that Major Tariq of ISI had abducted him from Peshawar Mor in Islamabad adjoining the Kashmir highway.
Justice Qureshi after hearing the arguments directed ISI chief to ensure the major’s presence at the next hearing.
