Small Shops: Union opposes KESC’s TV fee

Criticized the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) for charging shopkeepers Rs35 per month as a “TV fee.”

KARACHI: The All Pakistan Organisation of Small Traders and Cottage Industries in Karachi has criticized the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) for charging shopkeepers Rs35 per month as a “TV fee.”

They said that there are nearly 600,000 commercial consumers of electricity in Karachi and a majority of them does not keep television sets in their shops. He said that the extra charge would bring KESC Rs21 million every month at their expense. They want it withdrawn immediately.
