Promoting smes: Ministry to develop industrial enclaves

The ministry of production has finalised plans to promote and develop five industrial sectors with a special focus on the uplift of neglected areas, according to the Federal Minister for Production Chaudhry Anwar Ali Cheema. He was chairing a meeting of the board of directors of the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC). The board has approved development of the Sargodha Industrial Park, a rural craft development project in Lahore, establishment of a training and manufacturing centre for furniture in Gujrat and centres for wooden arts, and gems and jewellery training and manufacturing in Sargodha. The minister expressed his hope that the centres will stimulate industry, while also helping disadvantaged people from these areas develop productive skills and enable them to contribute to national output.
