Education In Fata: New policy to ensure attendance
Federal government has directed the Fata secretariat to compel parents by any means to send their children to schools.

A notification sent by the federal government has directed the Fata secretariat to compel parents by any means to send their children to schools, Khyber Agency Additional Political Agent Said Ahmad Jan agent said on Tuesday. In this regard Jan called a meeting of education and administration officials at the Jamrud administration office. The meeting was also attended by local religious leaders. Speaking to the meeting Jan said that they will soon start a door-to-door campaign to promote a new education policy. According to the new education policy, he said, parents would be awarded exemplary punishment and fine if they failed to send their children to school. Jan said that the policy will focus on children, especially girls, between ages five and 10. Education officer, Muhammad Ashraf, said that a meeting of religious leaders, local elders, Maliks and parents is due next meeting where they will final the strategy for the new education policy.
