National carrier: PIA to improve fleet with 5 Boeing 777s

The minister for defence says an effort was being made to improve PIA’s performance.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will purchase five Boeing 777 aircraft from the Boeing Company of the United States, according to an agreement signed on Tuesday. The aircraft will be delivered by November 2015; with the first delivery scheduled in March of the same year.PIA Managing Director Nadeem Khan Yousufzai and Boeing Director International Sales J. Miguel Santos signed the agreement in the presence of Minister for Defence Chaudhary Ahmad Mukhtar and Acting Ambassador of the US to Pakistan Richard Hoagland. The minister for defence said an effort was being made to improve PIA’s performance and hoped that PIA would overcome the crisis it faces.
