Balochistan unrest: Hindu trader kidnapped in Khuzdar
Hindu community members shut shop in condemnation, organise protest rally.
QUETTA:
A Hindu trader was kidnapped from Wadh Tehsil of Khuzdar district, about 370 kilometres from Quetta, on Sunday.
According to a Balochistan Levies official, the trader was identified as Sham Lal s/o Era Nund, a resident of Khuzdar, and was on his way along with his family from Khuzdar to Karachi in a car. A group of armed men intercepted and abducted him at gun point, dropping his family on the way.
“It could be a case of kidnapping for ransom,” an official said, adding that the Levies force has launched an investigation into the abduction.
His location is as yet not known and a case has been registered against unidentified persons.
This is the second Hindu kidnapping in Khuzdar in the past one month. The Hindu community closed shops in Khuzdar after news of the abduction and organised a protest rally condemning kidnapping for ransom.
