Exhibition starts: Pakistan, India discuss multiple visa
‘Made in Pakistan Show’ to be organised in India soon.

Federal Commerce Minister Amin Fahim has said that the governments of Pakistan and India are determined to ensure normalisation of trade and economic relations and discussions are under way on a three-year multiple visa to enable the business community to move easily.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of 'The India Show' organised by the Federation of India Chambers of Commerce and Industry at the Expo Centre Lahore, Fahim said the goods exhibition reflected the efforts being made to improve commerce between the two countries. Following the three-day India show, “we will also organise ‘Made in Pakistan Show’ in India soon,” he announced.
Fahim said the government was well aware of the reservations of certain sectors of the economy, adding existing infrastructure at the Wagha border was insufficient to handle the volume of bilateral trade.
“Things are gradually improving and infrastructure development is also under way. Both the sides have been meeting to resolve the issues and no decision will be taken in haste,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal said India wanted to share its growth potential with other countries, especially with its neighbours. “India wants cooperation with Pakistan and bilateral trade will ensure economic prosperity to both sides.”
He pointed out that India would relax the visa regime, which was the main hurdle in the way of promotion of trade.
In the trade show, around 58 Indian companies are showcasing their products, led by the gems and jewellery sector with around 20 companies.
