Various transporters’ organisations took out a rally on Thursday from Ravi Road to Lahore Press Club against the raise in the price of diesel oil and petrol.

Representatives of the All Pakistan Truck-Trailers Owners Association, Pakistan Goods Transporters Association and local transporters associations parked dozens of trucks in front of the Lahore Press Club, where they chanted slogans condemning the government and the OGRA for raising the prices. The motorists and public transport moved slowly for hours. Later, on a directive of the Punjab governor, a delegation led by former finance minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira met the protestors. Protesting transporters gave a week’s time to the government to withdraw its decision. They warned of a countrywide wheel-jam strike to press the government if their demands were not met.
