KARACHI:
The Government Girls Secondary School on Mission Road has been named after Malala Yousufzai, the first Pakistani student nominated for a peace award on Universal Children’s Day. The 14-year-old is from Swat and made headlines when she defied the Taliban’s decrees against education. The education minister gave Yousufzai half a million rupees as a token of appreciation and said that they would give a one-million-rupee grant to the school.
