Tennis: London offers Paes golden chance
The London Olympics offer Leander Paes the chance to outdo his father in the medals’ stakes.
NEW DELHI:
The London Olympics offer Leander Paes the chance to outdo his father in the medals’ stakes and crown his doubles tennis career. Paes’ singles bronze medal at the Atlanta Games in 1996 ended India’s 44-year wait for an individual Olympic medal and put him on a par with his father, Vece Paes, who was part of India’s bronze medal-winning 1972 Olympic hockey team. “I have not thought of a farewell yet,” said Paes. “I am not sure it is my last chance... [but] it is probably one of the best chances to win an Olympic medal in doubles.”
